HYDERABAD: In a further push to ensure that every adult in the city is fully vaccinated, health minister Harish Rao on Wednesday told corporators to take the lead in their wards and visit each house to persuade the unvaccinated to take the jab.

“Go to each home two or three times to find out if there are unvaccinated people. Vaccination requires participation of everyone, including representatives, for it to be 100% effective,” said Rao at the inauguration of a 100-bed floor at

Appreciating the role of corporates in improving the bed strength as part of their CSR work, the minister said, “During the peak of the pandemic, an additional 1,300 beds were set up in government hospitals in Hyderabad as part of CSR. Raheja Corp came forward at a time when the demand for beds in government hospitals was high during the pandemic.” The additional floor at the Kondapur District Hospital has been built by the Mindspace Business Parks REIT as part of CSR.

The health minister said that paediatric wards with a total of 6,000 beds was available in 33 districts of the state and the government was ready with an action plan to tackle any third wave. “More than 900 ICU beds will be available soon,” he added.
