Veena Shanteshwar, SG Siddaramaiah selected for ‘Ambikatanayadatta Award-2025’

Dharwad: Senior writer Professor Veena Shanteshwar and critic S G Siddaramaiah have been selected for the ‘Ambikatanayadatta Award-2025' instituted by the Dr Da Raa Bendre National Memorial Trust, Dharwad.The award carries a purse of Rs One lakh and citation. The cash component award will be divided between the two awardees.Chairman of Dr Da Raa Bendre National Memorial Trust Danayya Mahantayya Hiremath said here on Monday that the awards will be presented at a function to be held on Jan 31 at Bendre Bhavan in Sadhanakeri of Dharwad to mark the 129th birth anniversary of the Jnanpith awardee poet.Prof Veena Shanteshwar, who has served as a professor of English and principal at Karnatak Arts College in Dharwad for 39 years, has been a prolific writer, teacher and administrator.She has published five anthologies of short stories, three novels, several critical reviews and articles on relevent topics. She has been the recipient of several awards including the Karnataka Sahitya Academy award, Karnataka Rajyotsava award, Masti award and Daana Chintamani award among others.Prof SG Siddaramaiah, who has served as a professor of Kannada at various government degree colleges has contributed immensely to Kannada literature. He has served as the chairperson of Kannada Book Authority and Kannada Development Authority. He has penned several poems, critical reviews, travelogues, biography and edited several literary volumes.He is a recipient of PuThiNa award, Dr GSS award, Masti award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy award and Karnatak Rajyotsava award among others.
