Man killed in row over tree felling in Davanagere village
Davanagere: A quarrel among relatives over cutting a tree turned fatal in Deeturu village of Harihar taluk in Davanagere district, where Lankesh KB, 40, died after being struck during a clash, police said.
Police said Lankesh had a long-standing feud with his uncle, Hanumanthappa. Tensions escalated after Hanumanthappa cut a tree in front of Lankesh’s house, triggering an argument between the two families. The dispute turned violent with stone-throwing, during which Lankesh was hit in the chest. He died while being shifted to a private hospital in Davanagere.
Lankesh’s family filed a complaint at Harihar Rural police station against Hanumanthappa, his son Prakash, and two others. Hanumanthappa and three others were arrested. Police also visited Deeturu to assess the situation and maintain law and order.
Suresh Sagari, CPI of Harihar Rural police station, said the clash over tree cutting led to Lankesh’s death. Four people were detained, and a case was registered at the station.
