Bendre’s death anniversary to be observed

Dharwad: The GB Joshi Memorial Trust will organise a programme to recite and sing the poems of Jnanpith awardee poet laureate Da Raa Bendre on the poet's 43rd death anniversary on the banks of Mugad lake off Dharwad from 5pm on Oct 26. Writers and vocalists will recite and sing Bendre's compositions and a documentary on the life and works of Bendre will be screened. The serene beauty of lake in Mugad village, 10km from here on the Dharwad-Goa Road had inspired Bendre as he used to frequent the place and write poems sitting near the lake. At Bendre Bhavan Writer GM Hegde will deliver a special lecture at a function to mark Bendre's death anniversary organised at Bendre Bhavan in Sadhanakeri, Dharwad by the Dr Da Raa Bendre National Memorial Trust at 5.30pm on Oct 26. Deputy commissioner of police (crime and traffic) Raveesh CR will be the chief guest. Jyotirling Honakatti of Vijayapura will sing folk songs.
