BJP protests in B’gavi over insult to VP Dhankar
Belagavi: The BJP activists staged a protest in Belagavi, on Thursday, condemning the alleged insult of Jagdeep Dhankar, the Vice President of India by the opposition MPs in front of parliament house. Hundreds of BJP workers who gathered at Chennamma Circle on Thursday staged a protest to condemn the alleged insult by impersonating the vice president Jagdeep Dhankar, in front of Parliament House. Activists and leaders who shouted slogans against the alliance party led by Congress expressed outrage that the Congress-led opposition parties are acting irresponsibly and insulting the country without respecting the constitutional mandate. BJP functionary Murughedragouda Patil said that TMC’s (Trinamool Congress) MP Kalyan Banerjee insulted the vice president Jagadeep Dhanakar by mocking him in front of the Parliament house. It is an unconstitutional act of MPs, to insult the vice president this way. He expressed outrage that the group led by Rahul Gandhi did not even have the courtesy to respect the constitutional post. Legal action should be taken against the culprits, he demanded.Build Expo-23 from Dec 23Dharwad: The Association of Consulting Civil Engineers will organise a three-day construction materials exhibition Build Expo-23 at Kadapa Maidan in Dharwad from December 23. The event will be open to the public from 10am to 8.30pm. On Thursday, ACCE president Sunil Bagewadi told reporters that district minister Santosh Lad will inaugurate the event, while MLA Arvind Bellad will preside on December 23 at 11am. Over 56 stalls showcasing innovations and materials of civil engineering will be displayed. Cement block manufacturing units, modern wardrobes, modern kitchens, tiles, waterproofing, home decoratives, furniture, readymade compound walls, and interior designing, among others, will be displayed. There will be a special talk on the updation of civil engineers. “The ACCE has given a memorandum to the mayor requesting her to simplify the construction norms. The mayor is yet to take a call on this,” he added.Tunga arati to be held akin to Ganga aratiGangavathi (Koppal dist): Gangavathi MLA G Janardhana Reddy has said that Tunga arati will be held on the bank of Tungabhadra River in Anjanadri, along the lines of Gangarati of Ganga river in Kashi. He explained that the ritual aims to offer prayers to River Tungabhadra for good rains, crops and economic vitality to the farmers. Janardhana Reddy visited the Anjanadri-Anegondi environs and inspected suitable places to conduct the event. He inspected Nava Brindavan, an island in Tungabhadra river and said: “Several devotees come to worship Madhva Yatis, here, throughout the year.” He inspected three to four places in Anjanadri and Anegondi, including Rishimukha Parvata, and said that one of the places would be finalised for the event.Vaikunta Ekadashi eventHubballi: Hubballi Savita Samaj will organise various programmes on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadashi on December 23 at Venkateshwara temple in Arvind Nagar Hubballi. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Hubballi Savita Trust Secretary Dhanaraj Gondapalli said that Special puja and floral garlanding will be offered to Venkateswara Swami on that day in the morning. Devotees are allowed 7 am to 9 pm for darshana. Same day in the evening, bhajan and music programs are organised. Special arrangements have been made for the darshan of Vaikunta by constructing seven doors in the temple in Tirupati model and facing east. The devotees should take part in all these programmes, he appealed.International film fest on December 23, 24Hubballi: Nava Karnataka Film academy in collaboration with Universal Film Makers Council and Rotary International District 3170, Round Table India will organise an international film festival on December 23 and 24 at Sawai Gandharva Hall Hubballi. Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Nava Karnataka Film academy president AM Mummigatti said that the festival will be organised to honour national and international artists, and encourage local artists. More than 145 films, including short films, songs, telefilms, documentaries, will be screened in the film festival, he added. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi will inaugurate, MLAs Arvind Bellad, Prasad Abbayya and Mahesh Tenginakai, actor, producer and director Mohammed Rasheed will be present as chief guest The movie screening will be held from 1 pm to 9pm. On December 24, Movie screening will be held and the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony will be held from 5.30pm, he added.
