‘Bharat Yatra’ reaches Dharwad

Dharwad: The ‘Bharat Yatra’, launched by All-India Primary Teachers’ Federation seeking rollback of the New Pension Scheme and bringing back the Old Pension Scheme, reached Dharwad city on Thursday. Federation’s working president Basavaraj Gurikar said the yatra started at Jammu and after passing through several states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana and Puducherry, it has entered Karnataka via Bidar. A mega convention of government employees was held, and a signature campaign was also launched, demanding the implementation of old pension scheme, he said. After passing via Gadag, Haveri, Karwar, Goa and Maharashtra, the yatra is expected to reach New Delhi on October 4. The rally has evoked good response in every State. A mega convention will be held at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on October 5 and the future course will be discussed, he said. TNN

Siddanagoudar is new ACP for Dharwad

Prashant Siddanagoudar has taken charge as the assistant commissioner of police for Dharwad city sub-division. The previous ACP, Vijayakumar Talawar, has been transferred to ACP Hubballi South sub-division. Siddanagoudar was previously the DSP state intelligence for Dharwad. The post of ACP Dharwad city had been vacant for the past one-and-a-half months. The government has yet to appoint a new DSP for the position.
