JORHAT: Addressing two election rallies in Karbi Anglong district on Monday, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal assured all-round development in the hill district if his party is voted to power in the upcoming Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) polls.

People should vote for us for their development. We will take up all development works in Karbi Anglong for the interest of its people," Sonowal said.
Sonowal also spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's involvement in the plans to develop the hill district. "The Prime Minister wants to build up an equally developed nation. We also want to build our state as a developed one among other states in the country with the help of Centre. If people of KAAC will vote for us we will get the chance to take steps for its development," he added.
Accusing the former Congress government of rampant corruption, Sonowal said the misuse of government funds meant for development by the former government is the reason why Karbi Anglong has seen a lack of development.
"The Congress government in the state was involved in rampant corruption on government funds meant for development of KAAC. During Congress reign they did not pay heed to the development here. They were only busy in siphoning off government funds instead of its proper utilization," Sonowal said.
The CM is scheduled to continue campaigning in the hill district for four consecutive days from Monday to Thursday. He will address two public rallies at Kheroni and Baithalangso in west Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday.
