Dibrugarh: Ahead of the Independence Day, director general of police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta chaired a security review meeting in Dibrugarh on Sunday evening. Top police officials, including DIG (North-East range) Jitmol Doley, Tinsukia SP Debojit Deuri, Sadiya SP Pushkin Jain, Dhemaji SP Ranjan Bhuyan and Dibrugarh SP Shwetank Mishra, were present along with the officers-in-charge of various police stations.
During the meeting, various issues related to case matters, offering better services to public and security aspects were discussed in view of the forthcoming Independence day celebrations.
The DGP said, “We discussed several issues during the meeting. Since the Independence Day is approaching, the security angle was also discussed. We seek people’s cooperation to ensure a peaceful Independence Day celebration so that no untoward incident takes place. Some elements may try to commit disruptive activities but we are confident that the Assam Police with people’s help will not allow it to happen. People want a peaceful and progressive Assam.”
