Mahesh Bhupathi inaugurated two tennis courts at Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS) here recently.
He was in the school to attend the Founder’s Day celebrations of MBRS. Bhupathi presided over the award presentation ceremony to honour the achievers of classes X and XII who had secured top positions in the academic session 2013-14.
He toured the fully residential school and appreciated the elaborate infrastructure the school has provided to its students. Bhupathi said there was a lot of potential in the arena of sports in the northeastern region. In his speech, Nripen Kumar Dutta, founder and principal of the school, recalled how the school began with just 17 students in a rented room and spread to the present size to become one of the leading schools. He summarized the achievements of the students in various fields during the ongoing academic session.
Dutta emphasized that learning had to go beyond the four walls of the classroom and be all round and interactive to bring out the best in a child. He awarded Principal’s Leadership Awards to four students for exhibiting outstanding leadership skills. ‘The Summit’, a school publication, summarizing the achievements of students in sports and co-curricular activities during the current session, was unveiled by the chief guest. MBRS has two clay tennis courts and has an exclusive tie up with Mahesh Bhupathi Tennis Academies (MBTA) for training of its students .
