15 Dibrugarh panchayats TB-Free, Amguri bags gold for maintaining status for 3 straight years

Dibrugarh: Fifteen gaon panchayats of Dibrugarh district were declared “TB Mukt Panchayats” under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP) at an award distribution ceremony held at the DC Conference Hall on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in the district’s drive to eliminate tuberculosis from rural communities.DC Bikram Kairi felicitated the award-winning panchayats with Mahatma Gandhi statues and certificates in recognition of their efforts. The ceremony was attended by additional DC (health) Pranjal Baruah, joint director of health services Dr Trishna Borah, district TB officer Dr Ravi Baruah, the block development officer of Khowang development block and officials and staff of the NTEP.Amguri Gaon Panchayat under Naharkatia development block stood out as the top performer, receiving Gold Status for maintaining TB-free status for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025.Seven panchayats were awarded Silver Status for remaining TB-free during 2024 and 2025. These were Dinjoy under Chabua block; Haladhibari and Kololowa under Khowang; Kenduguri under Naharkatia; Kutuha under Borboruah; and Tipling and Ushapur under Tengakhat. Eight Panchayats received Bronze Status for achieving TB-free status in 2025 — Bogibeel and Niz Mankata under Borboruah; Dhemechi, Naharani; and Nakhat under Khowang and Dighalia and Merbil under Naharkatia.
The TB Mukt Panchayat Initiative recognises the collective efforts of panchayati raj institutions, frontline health workers, community leaders and citizens in strengthening TB prevention, early detection, treatment adherence and public awareness at the grassroots level.
