GURGAON: Cow vigilante Monu Manesar, currently lodged in Bhondsi jail, was produced for a hearing before Pataudi court via video conferencing on Wednesday. The case has been transferred to a sessions court in the city. Manesar was arrested by Gurgaon police in an attempt to murder case registered at Pataudi police station in February this year.
Initially he was produced before a court of the Pataudi judicial magistrate first class (JMIC). “The trial in the case will start from November 30. Cases of attempt to murder are heard in the sessions court,” said Kulbhushan Bharadwaj, the counsel for Manesar.
Manesar was brought to Haryana from Rajasthan and produced before Pataudi court on October 7.
A case was registered on February 7 in Pataudi by the father of a 20-year-old man who was allegedly shot at by Monu and others in a scuffle between two communities. Mobeen Khan (45) had told police that his son Moheen was buying groceries in Babbarshah Mohallah when an argument between two groups broke out on the night of February 6. “My son had to come home through this route. He tried to walk through the angry crowd and got shot in the back,” Mubeen had mentioned in his complaint to police.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered against Manesar and others under section 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (disappearing evidence) of IPC and sections of Arms Act.
Just a week later, the leader of the cow vigilante network in South Haryana was named as a key accused along with others for allegedly killing the two men from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur. The charred bodies of Nasir and Junaid were found in a Bolero in Haryana’s Bhiwani on February 16.
Nuh police arrested him in the city’s Manesar area on September 12. Monu Manesar was arrested in connection with a FIR registered against him for posting objectionable video on social media before a religious yatra (procession) on August 28, for which permission was denied and only a few persons were allowed to perform jalabhishek at a local temple in Nuh.

Police in Ambala and Yamunanagar districts have made 29 arrests in connection with the manufacturing of spurious liquor at an illegal factory. The liquor, supplied from the factory, has claimed the lives of 20 people in Haryana. The main accused, Ankit alias Mogli, procured ethanol used in the manufacturing process from a factory in Karnal. The police have arrested all the main accused, including suppliers and distributors, and are continuing their investigation. Three additional arrests have been made in Yamunanagar district, bringing the total number of arrests there to 17.
Court grants bail to two in Mopa gold smuggling case
Two individuals arrested in a gold smuggling case at Mopa airport in Goa have been granted bail by a court. The court ruled that there was insufficient justification to deny bail to the accused, as the investigating agency did not argue that they posed a threat to society. However, the court also directed the accused not to leave the state without permission until the conclusion of the case. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) had arrested the individuals for alleged illegal possession of 5.7kg of gold and 28 iPhones.
