Hit-and-run on Dwarka Expressway claims scooty rider’s life
Gurgaon: A 35-year-old scooty rider who was injured in a hit-and-run near DPS School on Dwarka Expressway on March 4 died during treatment on Sunday. The deceased, Rahul (35), had left home that evening to meet a friend in Gurgaon on his scooty. Police said the accident occurred between 6pm and 6.30pm when an unidentified vehicle allegedly hit his scooter near the school. Rahul suffered serious injuries and was first taken to the city's General Hospital. He was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital for advanced treatment, where doctors declared him unfit to give a statement on March 6 and March 8.He succumbed to his injuries on March 9. Rahul's father, Naresh Kumar, later filed a complaint at Rajendra Park police station, alleging that an unidentified driver drove rashly and negligently, causing the accident. Police said the family lodged the complaint after Rahul's death as they had been occupied with his treatment. A case has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death due to negligence) of BNS against an unidentified driver.
