Biryani seller dies after canter hits bike from behind
Gurgaon: A 41-year-old biryani seller died after a canter truck allegedly rammed the motorcycle he was riding pillion on near Shiv Temple in Sector 93 on March 4. The rider of the bike sustained minor injuries. The deceased, Rajeev Jha, was a native of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh and was living in Baskushla village in Manesar.

According to police, Rajendra Singh of Baskushla was riding his motorcycle from Hayatpur village towards his home with Jha as the pillion rider. When they reached near the temple in Sector 93, a canter vehicle allegedly hit the motorcycle from behind, causing the two to fall. Singh fell onto the unpaved portion of the divider and suffered minor injuries, while Jha sustained severe head and leg injuries. Both were initially taken to a private hospital in Sector 90. Jha was later shifted by his family to GTB Hospital in Delhi, where he died during treatment on Thursday. Police said they had initially received information about an injured person being admitted to hospital and reached there to record his statement, but he had already been shifted and was unable to speak. Following a written complaint by Singh on Thursday, a case was registered at Sector 10-A police station under sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS against the unidentified driver.
