VP to release Mario Miranda commemorative stamp today
Panaji: Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, who is in Goa on a two-day official visit, will inaugurate an exhibition on Padma Vibhushan recipient Mario Miranda, while also releasing a commemorative stamp and special cover to commemorate the centenary year of the legendary Goan cartoonist.Radhakrishnan is in Goa to mark four decades of Goa Statehood Day on Saturday at Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy. The state-level celebration organised by the department of information and publicity will reflect on Goa’s remarkable journey from a Union territory to a progressive <01Justify>state while honouring its legacy and aspirations for the future.A coffee-table book—Goa: Engineering the Next Era—and a special screening tracing Goa’s transformation from Union territory to statehood will be released.The celebration will also recognise the contribution of swayampurna villages and swayampurna mitras towards building self-reliant communities.During the function, appointment letters will be distributed to newly-selected police sub-inspectors from Goa police. It will also feature the launch of enhanced assistance under the Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY), and felicitation under the Gopal Ratna award scheme for outstanding contributions in dairy farming and milk production.
