Tuenkar visits panchayats, takes stock of ground issues
Margao: The newly-elected Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar has hit the ground running. With a view to understanding the issues faced by villages in his constituency, Tuenkar recently paid a visit to several panchayats.
He said he has so far visited Navelim, Telaulim and Davorlim panchayats and discussed the problems faced by the locals. Steps will soon be taken to find solutions, he said.
The Navelim MLA also visited various government offices and took stock of the status of development works under way in his constituency.
He also visited the places affected by the unseasonal heavy rains and strong winds that occurred last week, and directed the fire department and other government agencies to resolve the issues at the earliest.
At a recent function held by BJP to felicitate him, Tuenkar has said that he will be alloting a particular day for the public to visit him at the BJP office in Margao with a view to redressing their grievances.
In an emotional speech, he narrated how the party’s work that began in Navelim with the setting up of the mandal in 1999 with Jina Shaikh as president and himself as general secretary had expanded exponentially over the years.
“Our mandal consisted of altogether 10 members. We would face great difficulty in enrolling people as party members then. Our posters and banners would be torn. With a victory in the assembly polls in Navelim, we have now reaped the fruits of the hard work of the karyakartas,” Tuenkar said.
