The waste treatment facility has the capacity to handle upto 2 tonnes of wet waste per day. The facility has been set up at a cost of Rs 45 lakh through the 14th finance commission funds received by the panchayat.
The mini market complex has been constructed through government grants for zilla panchayats.
Tuenkar said that the mini market complex has space to accommodate 32 vendors and hoped that following the rehabilitation of roadside vendors in the market facility, traffic congestion in the village will be eased. “People would stop their vehicles to buy from roadside vendors, leading to traffic problems,” Tuenkar said, in the presence of sarpanch Vinayak Volvoikar.
Tuenkar urged other panchayats in Navelim constituency to identify suitable lands in their villages for construction of market complexes for the convenience of the villagers. “If land is identified for market complex, it will help me as an MLA to strive to get funds for construction,” he said.
