Restore roads, trim dangerous branches: Ulhas

Margao: Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar on Wednesday held a meeting with officials of all government agencies concerned – PWD, WRD, electricity department, panchayats – and took stock of the status of the works in progress in his constituency.

Pointing to complaints from the public that the sewerage department has left the dug-up roads uncovered even after completing the work of laying the sewer lines, Tuenkar directed the officials concerned to restore the roads before the monsoon sets in.

He also directed the officials of the electricity department and fire and emergency services to ensure the branches of trees leaning dangerously above roads are trimmed at the earliest.

He also expressed his disapproval over a BDO being burdened with the duties of several panchayats owing to which processing of files pertaining to development works including pre-monsoon works get delayed.
