MARGAO: Navelim MLA and PWD minister Churchill Alemao on Saturday refuted speculation in political circles that his daughter Valanka may approach the NCP for a party ticket.
"I will never speak to the NCP leaders for a ticket for Valanka. She will contest the upcoming elections from Benaulim and will be victorious. I am sure she will get the Congress ticket," said Alemao.
Asked what he would do if Valanka was denied a nomination by the Congress, he said, "She would (then) contest on the people's ticket."
To a query on whether he would quit the Congress if Valanka is denied a ticket from Benaulim, Alemao said he would never leave the Congress party as he has been a strong Congressman for many years. "Under no circumstances will I leave the party and stand for the upcoming assembly elections," said the senior Congress minister.
The speculation in political circles arose as the Benaulim constituency has been with NCP during previous assembly terms.
