Calangute locals oppose inclusionin NGPDA

CALANGUTE: A special gram sabha at the Calangute panchayat ghar on Sunday morning adopted a resolution to oppose the inclusion of Calangute under the North Goa Planning and Development Authority.
Calangute village panchayat members had earlier adopted a similar resolution and decided to hold a gram sabha to inform the public about the resolution. A faction of villagers including former zilla panchayat member Anthony Menezes suggested that the village be brought under the NGPDA for better development and planning.
Panchayat members decided to have a vote among panchayat members. Those opposing the inclusion of Calangute were asked to stand up, following which a majority of those assembled stood up and the resolution was adopted.
