Body recovered from Mandovi river

PANAJI: Porvorim police on Tuesday retrieved an unidentified body floating in the River Mandovi. Porvirim police has registered an unnatural death and is awaiting the postmortem report to ascertain cause of death.
At around 9.30am on Tuesday, the Porvorim police received a call from the police control room about a body floating in the river. Police said that at around 12 noon the body got stuck in the bushes during low tide.Police said the hands of the unidentified person were tied up.
Police said after searching the body they found a discharge card issued by the Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behaviour (IPHB). Police said that they have sought details from the institute. The body has been sent to the Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital, Bambolim, for a postmortem which is likely to take place on Wednesday.
