BJP making inroads in Salcete: Sawant
Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that after winning the Navelim constituency in the state assembly elections, BJP has started making inroads in Salcete with an aim to win more seats in the taluka.
Sawant urged ministers, MLAs and karyakartas from other constituencies to work in Salcete and win more seats.
“BJP has started penetrating areas once considered impossible.

When BJP can rule all north east states, then even after governing the state for 10 years, why should we not win the remaining constituencies in Salcete? We have to work towards achieving this. Not only local karyakartas, but ministers and MLAs from other constituencies should also work in Salcete,” he said.
“There is no need for ‘Mission Salcete’. People have started accepting BJP and everyone is with us,” Sawant said during the three-day resident training workshop for BJP state executive committee members at Divar.
The workshop, which commenced on Thursday, is being held to inculcate the party’s ideology, create awareness about the party’s functioning, and generate trained workforce for the party to take up issues at all levels.
The chief minister said that if BJP can win the Navelim constituency, then the party can also win the remaining seats in Salcete.
“We have started penetrating Salcete, so by the next assembly election, we will win 27 seats. We will also win the South Goa Lok Sabha seat. We have won many wards in Salcete in the recent-concluded panchayat elections,” Sawant said.
Speaking at the workshop, Sawant said party workers should learn BJP’s functioning and create trained manpower for the party.
“We are trained, however, this workshop will provide us additional knowledge,” he said.
