"Many states and union territories like Karnataka and Puducherry have made liquor available in tetra packs. We will also implement it based on the panel's report and its pros and cons," he said while addressing the media in Bhavani, where he participated in many government events.

Pointing out that people were disposing of empty liquor bottles in public places and fertile lands, he said tetra packs would be easier to handle. "They can also be recycled." The minister promised to deploy the employees of the 500 closed Tasmac outlets in other shops at the earliest. He also warned of strict action against the salesmen and supervisors at the Tasmac outlets found selling liquor over and above the maximum retail price.

Muthusamy said a memorial would be constructed for Eswaran, who first proposed the Lower Bhavani dam and canal projects in Sathyamangalam taluk in the early 1950s. "The memorial will house a library and a multi-purposes community hall."
