2 two blazes in a day in Delhi: 4 injured in LPG blast, short circuit likely cause of second incident

NEW DELHI: Two separate fire-related incidents were reported in the city on Thursday, leaving four people injured in one of the cases.

The first incident occurred in central Delhi’s Nabi Karim, where four people suffered injuries after a fire broke out while an LPG cylinder was being replaced at a tea stall operating from a small room. Police said a PCR call was received at 9.29 am.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that Sarita, 35, who runs the tea stall, asked a man, Krishna, 37, to change the cylinder. While the regulator was being opened, a sudden fire erupted, injuring Sarita, Krishna, a customer, Ajay (19), and Zafir (35), a passer-by. All were rushed to RML Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

In another incident, a fire broke out in the locked basement of a building in Humayunpur village, near Safdarjung Enclave. The basement, which earlier housed a café and is now used for storage, caught fire at 7.06 pm. Police and local residents broke open the lock and helped douse the flames before the fire tenders arrived. No injuries were reported. Authorities suspect the fire was caused by a short circuit.
