FAIMA expresses shock over Saket building collapse incident
New Delhi: Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) expressed shock over the incident and criticised the slow pace of rescue operations through posts on social media platform X. Two doctors were among the six who lost their lives in the incident.
In their statement, the association said: “These dedicated young minds had devoted themselves to the noble profession of medicine and were working tirelessly towards their dreams. This devastating loss has left the entire medical fraternity in shock and grief.”
In a video shared on social media, Dr Jaswant Yadav, FAIMA’s FMG in-charge, described the situation as one of panic for medical students caught in the collapse. “These medical students were preparing for NEET-PG and FMG examinations. Around 30 students were affected,” he said.
In the video posted around 2 am on Sunday, Yadav alleged that rescue operations were progressing slowly. “The authorities are not using JCBs or taking other necessary measures right now,” he said, while appealing to people to share details of missing friends or acquaintances so efforts could be made to trace them.
FAIMA’s social media handle also shared updates from doctors involved in the rescue operation, including Dr Mohammad Momin Khan, who provided confirmed details of those who had died. In another post, the association said its national vice-president, Dr Lakshya Jha, was at the forefront of rescue and coordination efforts.
Speaking to reporters at the site later, Yadav highlighted the emotional toll the tragedy had on students.
