Flight delays

Over 110 flights, encompassing domestic and international travel, encountered delays at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) due to the foggy conditions.

Train services affected

Train services were also affected as low visibility persisted in the area.

4/7

Severe air quality

Weather forecasts predict continued foggy conditions for the next three days, with Wednesday's air quality expected to reach "severe" levels due to increased pollution.

5/7

IMD's orange alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for today and a yellow alert for Thursday, signaling the possibility of dense to very dense fog, characterized by visibility between 50 to 200 meters.
6/7

Weather forcast

Anticipated temperatures for Wednesday range between 7 to 24 degrees Celsius, with clear skies but unfavorable conditions for pollutant dispersion owing to low ventilation and wind speed.

7/7

Factors affecting fog

The region, including north-west India (Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, western and eastern UP, and northern Rajasthan), is expected to experience persistent dense to very dense fog due to night moisture, clear skies, and low wind speed, as indicated by IMD scientist Kuldeep Srivastava.
