AI NY flight recalled as passenger falls ill

NEW DELHI: A medical emergency on board Air India's Delhi-New York nonstop flight on Saturday morning led to the flight returning here.
In a statement, AI said, "The New York-bound flight AI 101 returned to Delhi after being airborne for 2 hours and 30 minutes to rush medical care to a sick passenger on board."
The Boeing 777 took off with 327 passengers at 1.56am. After two-and-a-half hours of flying, a passenger complained of breathlessness and was in need of urgent medical attention.
"Captain Zoya Agarwal decided to return to Delhi. Subsequently the flight touched down at Delhi at 5am and the passenger was immediately rushed to hospital on arrival. Soon after, the flight departed for New York," AI statement said, adding, "the passenger's condition is now stable."
