Youth protest: Bail hearing of 13 arrested accused deferred
Dehradun: The 13 youths protesting against unemployment and unfair exam practices who had been arrested for allegedly pelting stones at cops on February 9 were unable to get bail on Tuesday as the Dehradun district and sessions court deferred the hearing to Wednesday. A police officer privy to the case said, “The prosecution sought a day’s time to submit the medical report of the officers who were injured”. Around a hundred protesters have been camping at Shaheed Smarak since Friday despite the imposition of section 144 of the CrPC in the city. The protest of a group of students here, who have been demanding the release of the 13 accused, continued for the seventh consecutive day. TNN
