2 killed, 1 injured as vehicle falls into gorge near Joshimath
Dehradun: Two persons died and one was seriously injured when a utility vehicle plunged into a deep gorge near Bhaapkund Bridge in Joshimath, Chamoli district, late Tuesday night.
The dead were identified as Manik Singh (32) and Karnail Singh (27), both from Jammu. The injured, Rajvir Singh, is also from Jammu.
"We received information that a camper vehicle belonging to CPPL company met with an accident near Suraithota-Bhaapkund-Pagati bridge. A police team from Suraithota and Tapovan post rushed to the spot for a search and rescue operation. Later, a team from SDRF was also called for assistance," said NK Joshi, Chamoli's disaster management officer.
The SDRF team recovered two bodies from the accident site and sent them for autopsy. Meanwhile, Singh has been admitted to a local hospital for treatment, an official said.
