DEHRADUN: The meteorological department issued an orange alert for heavy rain and storm in Rudraprayag district, where continuous rainfall occurred since night.
In view of the safety of pilgrims, the Kedarnath Yatra has temporarily been halted on the directions of the district magistrate and superintendent of police, Rudraprayag.
All pilgrims currently on the Kedarnath trekking route are being stopped immediately at the nearest holding points and safe locations.
No pilgrim is permitted to proceed further until weather conditions normalised.
The district administration has requested the pilgrims to maintain patience and follow the instructions.
