TVK govt appoints 34 ministers as in-charge for 38 districts in Tamil Nadu
Chennai: TVK govt on Wednesday appointed all 34 ministers as in-charges for 38 districts. According to a GO, rural development minister N Anand has been appointed in-charge for Cuddalore and Villupuram districts; PWD minister Aadhav Arjuna for Chennai and Tiruvannamalai districts; housing minister P Rajkumar for Dharmapuri and Ariyalur districts; and electricity minister R Nirmalkumar for Madurai and Theni districts. Other ministers have been appointed as in-charges for single districts, including Congress ministers, S Rajesh Kumar and P Viswanathan, and VCK minister Vanni Arasu.
The order said the ministers will ensure that the developmental projects in the districts are expedited and the benefits of the projects reach the beneficiaries on time. It added that the ministers will ensure precautionary measures are taken during natural calamities and communicable diseases are not spread at the time of floods. The govt had earlier appointed senior IAS officers as monitoring officers for all the 38 districts to ensure that all the welfare schemes reach the people on time. The ministers will coordinate with those officials.
