Chennai: A 22-year-old Nepalese national and two minors were arrested by Kilpauk police after they made obscene gestures at two women in Purasawalkam. The trio was apprehended by an auto-rickshaw driver and members of the public before being handed over to the police.According to police, the incident occurred on Purasawalkam High Road. A woman and her niece were walking towards the pharmacy, when three intoxicated youths approached them and asked for directions. Police said the youths made obscene gestures at the women.The women raised an alarm and sought assistance from an auto-rickshaw driver who was nearby. The auto driver and other residents pursued the suspects and apprehended the three suspects. The trio was subsequently handed over to the Kilpauk police.During the investigation, police identified one of the accused as Sanjal Gaini, 22, a Nepalese national. The other two accused were minors aged 16 and 17.Police inquiries revealed that all three were employed at a restaurant in Kilpauk. Investigators said they were drunk at the time of the incident.A case was registered. The adult accused was remanded to judicial custody, while proceedings relating to the two juveniles were initiated in accordance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. Further investigation is under way.
