The following are the highlights of the 2023-24 budget presented in the Tamil Nadu assembly by finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan on Monday.

TN to launch Rs 1,000 monthly financial aid for women home makers from September 15. It has allocated Rs 7,000 crore for the scheme

Metro rail services to be launched in Coimbatore and Madurai. It has earmarked Rs 9000 crore and Rs 8,500 crore to implement the project
Rs 500 crore allocated for procurement of 1,000 new buses and refurbishing another 500 buses
Free breakfast scheme to be extended to all 30,122 government primary schools from 2023-24. Rs 500 crore allocated

A grand Chola museum will be set up in Thanjavur
TN to bring all schools functioning under various departments including Adi-Dravida and Tribal Welfare, Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Denotified Communities and Forest under the school education department
