CHENNAI: Spiritual leader Bangaru Adigal, who passed away on Thursday, was laid to rest with state honours on the premises of the Adhiparasakthi temple at Melmaruvathur in Chengalpet district.

Several leaders including Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi, chief minister M K Stalin and BJP state president K Annamalai, paid homage to the leader’s body at his residence in Melmaruvathur on Friday.
Bangaru Adigal, who had been ailing for a while, died at the age of 82. Having gained a large number of devotees across the globe over the years, crowds began to gather at Melmaruvathur to pay respects.
A holiday was declared for educational institutes in Melmaruvathur and surrounding areas on Friday, and medical camps were set up in many places to deal with emergencies. His body was kept in the meditation hall on the temple premises for public viewing. State honours were accorded at the funeral with gun salutes, as per the chief minister’s orders.
The chief minister was accompanied by his ministeruial colleagues Duraimurugan, K Ponmudy and K N Nehru. BJP state president K Annamalai cancelled his ongoing padayatra in order to travel to Chengalpet to pay homage to the spiritual leader.
NTK leader Seeman, former AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss were among the leaders who paid their respects.

Polish president to consult with party leaders on forming government
Poland's president, Andrzej Duda, will meet with parliamentary party leaders next week to discuss forming a government after the ruling nationalists lost their majority in the recent election. Pro-European Union opposition parties secured a majority in the ballot, marking a shift away from rightwing populism in the country and a setback for the ruling Law and Justice party. Duda has stated that he will give the first opportunity to form a cabinet to the party that won the most votes, but the process may take weeks or even months.
Telangana BJP leader Kunja Satyavathi passes away
Kunja Satyavathi, a former MLA and BJP leader, passed away on Monday. She was being taken to the hospital by her family due to severe chest pain when she died. Satyavathi had previously served as an MLA from 2009 to 2014 on a Congress ticket before joining the BJP. Many prominent leaders, including Union Minister Kishan Reddy and Congress Committee Chief Revanth Reddy, expressed their condolences on her death.
