CHENNAI: With more than four crore textbooks printed and delivered to all districts, state board students will get the textbooks on June 7, day one of the reopening of schools after summer holidays.
The state government had postponed the reopening of schools to June 7 in view of the hot conditions prevailing in the state.
The Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation has printed more than 4.12crore textbooks for the next academic year.

Of four crore textbooks, three crore are free books and 1.12crore are sale copies. For Classes I to VII, the first term books have been printed, and for other sections full books have been printed.
"The private schools are collecting books from the textbook corporation godowns from across the state after making payments online. So far 68 crore worth textbooks for private schools, students and parents have been sold for next academic year," an official said. The sale of textbooks began on April 10.
The textbooks are also available for sales at counters in DPI campus, Anna Centenary Library and Adyar.
Officials from the school education department said that district educational officers are distributing the free textbooks to all the government and government-aided schools.
Students will get free items such as shoes, socks and chappals before the end of June this year. "The quality of the shoes and chappals are being checked in the labs. Other items including school bags, crayons are likely to be delivered in the coming weeks," the official added.
The textbook corporation also printed and sold more than 10 lakh Tamil textbooks for CBSE students studying from Classes I to X. "All the books have been delivered to CBSE schools," official said. A recent circular from the directorate of private schools has said that students studying in CBSE, ICSE and other boards to read Tamil as additional compulsory subject up to Class X.
