CHENNAI: Police were given three days custody of credit card fraudster Umesh alias a Shortya and his aide Divyan on Wednesday. After the order by the 11th metropolitan magistrate in Saidapet, police teams took the duo to a secluded place for questioning.
Police arrested Umesh and his associates on October 9. They started investigating the case after more than 60 people complained of being cheated to the tune of Rs 32 lakh.

Umesh bought hi-tech slim skimmers and encoder machine from China and used them to get credit and debit card details from card holders. He and his associates then used the card details to make fake credit and debit cards.
Umesh purchased each of the 50 skimmers and sensor equipment for $2,000 (nearly Rs 85,000) from a company in China over the last six months. He received the consignments by courier.
"We will interrogate Umesh to find out more about his associates in other states and abroad, a police officer said."
Umesh and Divyan will be remanded in Puzhal prison after producing them before the magistrate on Friday.
