CHENNAI: A mobile snatcher bit the finger of a 43-year-old man who caught him and his accomplice while they were trying to escape with his phone in Chennai on Friday, police said.
The incident happened in Sivan Koil Street at Kodambakkam. Meganathan, a driver, was walking to his home when two motorcycle-borne men stopped near him. They told him that their vehicle was running out of petrol and they did have money to purchase fuel.
They asked him to give them Rs 50. But he refused.
The duo threatened him with a knife. They hit him and snatched his mobile phone. Meganathan caught hold of the duo. Noticing a crowd gathering, the pillion rider bit Meganathan’s finger, and the duo sped away.
Meganathan, who sustained bleeding injuries, was rushed to a nearby private hospital.
