MBA student slits mate's throat on bus in Tamil Nadu

KARUR: Police arrested a 21-year-old MBA student for slitting the throat of a fellow student in Tamil Nadu's Karur district on Monday. The accused was identified as A Annamalai of Trichy district, a first-year MBA student at a college in Puliyur.

The injured student, identified as P Nithish Kumar (20), was admitted to a government hospital. He is a third-year engineering student at the same college. The duo became friends while travelling on the same bus daily. However, Kumar stopped speaking to Annamalai for some reason. On Monday, Annamalai boarded the bus at Thottiyam while Kumar boarded the vehicle at Musiri. Annamalai went to Kumar's seat and picked a fight with him before brandishing a knife from his pocket and slashing the left side of Kumar's throat.

Alarmed, the bus driver rushed Kumar to government hospital. His condition was stable, police said. Police registered a case and arrested Annamalai. Further inquiries were on, police said. tnn
