Madurai: Photos of Lord Kallazhagar festival

Lord Kallazhagar was dressed in green silk and mounted on his magnificent golden stallion.

The lord began the journey towards the Vaigai followed by thousands of devotees.

The spectacular event is the highpoint of annual Chithirai Thiruvizha.

Amid a sea of devotees, the lord entered into the Vaigai river between 5.50am and 6.20am on Saturday morning.

The event was held after a gap of two years.

There were reports of two people being killed in a stampede during the ceremony of Lord Kallazhagar entering into the river on Saturday morning.
