Two more juveniles who had escaped from a correctional home on Tuesday were traced near Theniamman Koil in Washermenpet early on Wednesday. They were brought back to the home.

CHENNAI: Two more juveniles who had escaped from a correctional home on Tuesday were traced near Theniamman Koil in Washermenpet early on Wednesday. They were brought back to the home.
Police inspector Balakrishnan Prabhu of the Washermenpet police station noticed two boys roaming on the road. When the boys saw a police vehicle approaching them, they started running.

However, they were nabbed by police. Inquiries revealed that they were part of the group that ran away from the correctional home in Kellys.
Police produced the boys before Juvenile Justice Board members and brought them back to the home. At least 17 juveniles escaped from the home on Tuesday morning.
They broke the locks of the main gate. Two of the juveniles were traced near Kilpauk within hours of their escape, while 15 remained untraced. Police are now searching for 13 absconding juveniles.
As per the Juvenile Justice Board Act, the juveniles cannot be booked under a fresh case for running away from the home, police said. Based on the complaint of home superintendent Selvaraj, the Secretariat Colony police are searching for the missing juveniles.
