“Modi is afraid of DMK – Congress alliance, especially after the dent in BJP’s strongholds in the recently concluded assembly elections in northern states. Edappadi K Palaniswami, Stalin said, “EPS and his cabinet colleagues are indulging in irregularities. Modi is using the weapon of corruption cases to coerce AIADMK into an alliance with a desire to win at least one or two seats. It will remain an unfulfilled desire,” Stalin said. Earlier, Senthil Balaji challenged EPS to resign from CM post and contest in election. “If EPS wins, I will quit politics and if he fails to win, he should leave politics,” he said.

Earlier in the day, AIADMK party said over 3,000 people from various parties in Karur including AMMK, DMK, Congress and TMC joined the party in the presence of Palaniswami and Panneerselvam in Chennai.

The DMK will raise the issue of high voltage transmission towers in farmland in the upcoming assembly session, said Stalin, speaking earlier at Moolakkarai in Erode on Thursday. Stalin met farmers, who were on day 12 of the protest against Power Grid Corporation of India’s proposed plan to erect transmission towers in farmland, and expressed solidarity.
