Art director among 8 held for murder

CHENNAI: Five days after call taxi driver Prabakaran (35) was found murdered near Korattur Lake, police on Sunday arrested eight people, including an art director, for the crime.
The accused have been identified as Vasanth, Arumugam, Bhaskar, Rajesh, Pazhani, Kamal, Kavi and Suresh. Police said that Vasanth, who works as an art director for films, hatched the plan to avenge the killing of his cousin, businessman Udayabalan, in June this year.
Vasanth approached hired killer Arumugam to help him murder Prabakaran, who they later abducted from a Tasmac bar. The duo then hacked Prabakaran near Korattur Lake and also disfigured his face.
Prabakaran was arrested in June for hacking Udayabalan to death at his residence in Ekkatuthangal, after he developed a relationship with Udaybalan's wife Udayalekha. Prabakaran was out on bail when he was murdered.
