Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), on Thursday, signed an agreement with Ion Beam Applications (IBA), Belgium, to offer proton therapy training and education for clinicians.

Chennai: Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), on Thursday, signed an agreement with Ion Beam Applications (IBA), Belgium, to offer proton therapy training and education for clinicians.
Rakesh Jalali, medical director and head of radiation oncology, Apollo Proton Cancer Centre said, “We will run a series of programs. It will be a mixture of online, physical observership and in-depth training programs.” This is exclusive for cancer treatment, he said.

APCC at Chennai, the first proton therapy centre in South Asia and the Middle East, has multi-gantry and single gantry proton facilities with a collective value of equipment costing 60 million Euros. Prathap C Reddy, founder & chairman, Apollo Hospitals, India said, they were planning to add four or five more super specialty hospitals in major cities across the country. TNN

branches in Tamil Nadu:
Federal Bank on Thursday opened seven new branches in Tamil Nadu. The branches were opened at Acharampattu, Kilacheri, Kumbakonam, Perambalur, Ponpathi, Salem Gugai and Tiruvarur in the state. With this, Federal Bank has 171 branches in the state. The branches are equipped with ATMs, safe deposit lockers and fed-e-studio. The bank also flagged off ‘Bank on the Go’, a mobile banking unit that will bring banking services to the doorsteps of customers. Nandakumar V, head of branch banking, Federal Bank said, “After opening 10 branches in a single day last June, today we are opening 15 branches across various locations in the country.” TNN
