Bloodbath at Mohali office: Woman dies after being stabbed 32 times by ex-boyfriend
MOHALI: A 30-year-old woman working at a private firm in Sector 66 was allegedly stabbed to death by her former partner on Thursday evening. The accused later attempted suicide using the same weapon.
The deceased, identified as Dimple, a resident of Patiala, worked at a packers and movers company along with the accused, Harvinder Mann alias Harry. Both had been employed there for nearly three years.
Police said preliminary investigation suggested the two were previously in a relationship but had parted ways around six months ago. Police sources said Harvinder had been trying to reconnect, while Dimple had distanced herself.
On Thursday evening, Dimple was working late at the office when Harvinder arrived. An argument reportedly broke out, during which he allegedly attacked her with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries and triggering panic among staff present.
After the assault, the accused reportedly stabbed himself multiple times. Police rushed to the spot on receiving information and shifted both to a private hospital.
Doctors declared Dimple dead on arrival, while Harvinder remains admitted in a critical condition.
Police have collected evidence from the scene and registered a murder case. Officials said the exact sequence of events and motive will be clearer once the accused’s statement is recorded, subject to his medical condition. Further investigation is underway.
