Speed up village land digitisation, civic body tells officials

Chandigarh: Joint municipal commissioner Inder Jeet Thursday directed officials to expedite the NAKSHA pilot project aimed at digitising land and ownership records in selected village abadi areas, stressing strict adherence to timelines.

At a review meeting attended by officials of the state project management unit (SPMU) and junior engineers, progress of field surveys, record preparation and timelines was assessed for Sarangpur, Attawa, Burail, Kajheri and Palsora.

The civic body asked survey teams to speed up pending fieldwork while maintaining accuracy, transparency and accountability in preparing digital records. Officials underscored that the project would modernise land record management, create reliable and easily accessible data, and improve service delivery for residents.

The need for close coordination among stakeholders was also emphasised to ensure timely completion. The NAKSHA pilot is seen as a key step towards strengthening digital governance in Chandigarh.
