‘SFJ claims of Khalistan banners at GNDU lies’

Amritsar: Ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu, banned group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) on Thursday claimed to have put banners eulogizing Khalistan on the walls of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU). SFJ’s Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on Thursday morning sent a video showing banners praising Khalistan at GNDU. The US-based group, banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in 2019, released footage claiming to have raised the Khalistan flag at GNDU, but the same was denied by GNDU vice-chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu and police. A police official investigating the claims of Pannun said: “We didn’t find anything with regards to the claims of Pannun; there is much likely possibility of fake videos sent by SFJ to gain popularity in media.” National Commission for Minorities (NCM) member Sarchand Singh said Pannun’s claims were lies. tnn
