Patiala/Kapurthala: The first phase of the central government’s recruitment drive, Rozgar Mela, in Punjab was launched in Patiala and Kapurthala on Saturday, with Prime Minister
Narendra Modi addressing the gathering virtually and Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Som Parkash attending the event in Patiala and Kapurthala, respectively.
In Patiala, the event was organised at Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW) and Puri, who is the Union minister for petroleum and natural gas, distributed appointment letters to 25 of 75 new recruits from Patiala.

“Patiala has a special place in my life. Today when I distributed appointment letters to selected candidates in Patiala, I remembered how I began my professional life from this historic city when I was posted here in 1974 for my district training as a young civil servant,” Puri said.
The event was also organised at Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory (RCF) and Union minister of state for commerce and industries Som Parkash distributed appointment letters to 46 new recruits. These new appointees have been given jobs in PLW, ESIC, the department of posts, BSF, SSB, and various nationalised banks. Parkash said hate speech was wrong.
