Top Patna Sahib cleric writes to Akal Takht
Besides Bhai Baldev Singh, jathedar Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, the letter is signed by Bhai Dalip Singh, head granthi, Bhai Gurdial Singh, additional head granthi, Bhai Parshuram Singh, senior vice-granthi and Bhai Amarjit Singh, vice-granthi.
The panj payraas, in their letter, alleged that Ranjit Singh Gohar has faced multiple allegations of violating maryada during his tenure as jathedar, which led to him being declared tankhiya.
Giani Baldev Singh couldn’t be contacted for his comments. However, his son Ranjit Singh admitted having written the letter to jathedar of Akal Takht.
Sources questioned why the panj payaras of Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib, Bihar, have written to the jathedar of Akal Takht, urging that the complaints against Giani Ranjit Singh should not be considered. “Is this not an attempt by certain forces to create a division between the two Takhts,” the sources asked.
Earlier on December 6, 2022, the Sikh clergy at Akal Takht had suspended the services of Giani Ranjit Singh Gohar and had recommended an investigation against him by the investigation committee over the complaint received against him by the Akal Takht secretariat.
