HOSHIARPUR: A gang of eight to ten robbers suspected to be members of Kale Kachhewale'' gang struck early on Sunday morning at two different colonies on the outskirts of Hoshiarpur city and looted cash, jewellery and other household items, while leaving six persons injured, three of them seriously.
According to sources, a group of robbers entered the house of Ram Parkash in Dashmesh Nagar in the wee hours of the morning.
The robbers attacked Ram Parkash, his daughter in-law and grand-daughter with iron-rods and sticks. After injuring the three, the robbers looted the house before striking again at a house in New Tagore Nagar.
The robbers entered the house of Des Raj and are believed to have followed the same modus operandi. They injured Des Raj, his son and daughter-inlaw.
The robbers also took away, cash and jewellery before running away. The total looted amount could not be ascertained as all the injured are admitted in the local civil hospital. This is the third such incident in the district in the last one week where suspected ‘Kale Kachhewale'' have assaulted persons with sharp-edged weapons. SSP Gurpreet Deo visited the sites of crime.
