FATEHABAD: The Haryana police have registered a case after some people damaged a foundation stone laid for a road by state panchayat minister Devendra Singh Babli.
It is alleged that the group had also abused the organisers even before the ceremony.
The Fatehabad police said that the Bhuna police station has registered a case on the complaint of Baljit Singh, a resident of Dhani Sanchala village of Fatehabad district, against Balwan and four others under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (obscene acts) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and the Public Property Damages Act.
"On March 18, panchayat minister Devendra Singh Babli had visited our village to inaugurate the road. In the inauguration ceremony, I had set up tables and chairs and the officers of the panchayat department had put up the inauguration stone," Baljit Singh said.
"Even before the ceremony, Balwan Singh abused me and even after the minister had arrived, he threatened to kill me after breaking the stone," he added.
