Excise raid at Sector 9 eatery, liquor seized

Chandigarh: Acting on specific inputs, the excise department Friday night raided a restaurant in Sector 9 and recovered a quantity of liquor from the premises.Verification revealed that the establishment did not possess a valid liquor licence for storage or service. Officials said the liquor was being kept in violation of excise rules.The department informed the police and initiated legal action. An FIR has been registered under Section 68(1)(B) of the Excise Act.Officials said enforcement drives will continue and warned of strict action against violators.
